What is SAP S/4HANA?

SAP S/4HANA, short for SAP Business Suite 4 SAP HANA, is SAP’s next-generation business suite. It is a new product fully built on the most advanced in-memory platform today – SAP HANA – and modern design principles with the SAP Fiori user experience (UX). SAP S/4HANA delivers massive simplifications (customer adoption, data model, user experience, decision making, business processes, and models) and innovations (Internet of Things, Big Data, business networks, and mobile-first) to help businesses run simple in a digital and networked economy.

  • SAP idle session time out Parameter

  • Go to Profile Maintenance by choosing Tools –> CCMS –> Configuration  –> Profile Maintenance or the transaction RZ11.
  • Maintain the parameter rdisp/gui_auto_logout. Enter the required number of seconds of inactivity before the user is logged off automatically.

To deactivate automatic logoff, delete the parameter from the profile(s) or set the value ‘0’.

How to get List of transactions executed by a User in a specific period of time

A)Go to ST03. Select choose for analysis. Choose only one application server at a time in case you have multiple application servers. Choose time period of your choice.

B)choose GO TO–>PROFILES->-USER PROFILES. Here you will get the list on users who have worked on that application server.

C)Double click on the required user and you will get all the transactions he/she has executed.

D)In case you select TOTAL in step 1 and then follow the steps 2 and 3 you will only get the list of application server on which the user has worked and not the transaction details.

Daemon:

              starts all other processes.

keeps all other processes running.

Index Server:

Index server is the main SAP HANA database component

It contains the actual data stores and the engines for processing the data.

The index server processes incoming SQL or MDX statements in the context of authenticated sessions and transactions.
Preprocessor Server:

The index server uses the preprocessor server for analyzing text data and extracting the information on which the text search capabilities are based.
Name Server:

The name server owns the information about the topology of SAP HANA system. In a distributed system, the name server knows where the components are running and which data is located on which server.

Statistic Server:

The statistics server collects information about status, performance and resource consumption from the other servers in the system.. The statistics server also provides a history of measurement data for further analysis.
XS Engine:

XS Engine is an optional component. Using XS Engine clients can connect to SAP HANA database to fetch data via HTTP.

BASIC ARCHITECTURE OF SAP HANA DB

SAP HANA needs at least 128GB of RAM, ideally 1 core can control 16GB of memory, SAP HANA can use 90% of available memory

Sap HANA and SAP HANA Studio should be the same version to avoid issues.

The disk layer has the data volumes and the log volumes and this is a non volatile data storage.

The storage engine helps in data pages and exchange from RAM to disks

Relational engines has the column store and row store the place where it stores data in the RAM

Process or execution engines- process and executes the queries

External interfaces – communicates with HANA Databases, helps in admin data loads and queries.
